Gaurish Wagle is an Architect-Urban Designer, presently working as Manager, Masterplanning & Sustainability at Masdar City, a major development in Abu Dhabi which aims to set the benchmark for smart sustainable developments.
Gaurish is a registered Architect & Urban Planner in India and UAE. He graduated as an architect from Goa University, India in 1995 and completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Urban Design from CEPT University, India in 1997.
Gaurish has worked in India in the government sector, involved in preparing Public Policies and Master Plans for developing towns. In the Middle East, he has worked for international firms like Hyder Consulting, UK and Mouchel, UK working on major developments like Reem Island, Bahrain Investment Wharf, Palm Jebel Ali and Dubai Waterfront. Later, he moved to the client side program management working for CH2M Hill International, US before joining Masdar City in 2009.
Gaurish has been actively involved in lectures and workshops on Sustainable Planning at Masdar City with visiting student and business delegations. He has also guest lectured on Sustainable & Smart City Planning at Paris Sobornne University, Abu Dhabi; CEPT University, India and Khalifa University - Masdar Institute Campus, Abu Dhabi.
Gaurish has worked on invitation as a member of Abu Dhabi Government’s Working Groups on various initiatives like:
- Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council’s - Abu Dhabi Plan 2030; Al Gharbia Towns Masterplan 2030 and Tawasul (Development Review Services) Program;
- Abu Dhabi Department of Transport’s – Surface Transport Masterplan 2040; Etihad Rail Alignment and LEZ Feasibility & Concept Design;
- Abu Dhabi Quality & Conformity Council’s – Unified Regulations for Urban Planning, Public Realm and Infrastructure Development.
- Digital Data Management Standards by Abu Dhabi Digital Authority
He was also invited as a speaker at various forums promoting the concept of Sustainable Planning and Smart Cities in India and UAE including United Nation’s - International Students Energy Summit, 2015 at Bali, Indonesia as a global leader on Energy, Environment and Sustainable Cities.
